Adventure Engagement Session at Sweetwater Creek State Park, GA

Adventure engagement sessions can be a fun and exciting way to get your engagement photos taken!

If you’re unfamiliar with Sweetwater Creek State Park, it is located about 30 minutes outside of Atlanta, with a handful of beautiful hiking trails that lead you to some ruins, as well as trails that follow alongside a river. You truly get a mixture of environments here and photo opportunities present themselves all over! 😊

We ended up posting an Instagram story asking if there were any couples who’d be down for an engagement session there (On the house! We really wanted to shoot there!) and we got a reply from Kerrie! Kerrie and Shawn had recently gotten engaged, so it was the perfect scenario for everyone involved! Oh how the stars align 😊

The day of the session was filled with overcast and cloudy skies, providing beautiful lighting and a moody atmosphere. Despite occasional gusts of wind hinting at rain incoming, we continued on capturing moments of intimacy and emotion against the backdrop of the overcast sky. And luckily for us, the rain held off until we were finished with the session!

When we got to the park, we met Kerrie and Shawn by the visitor center and started our walk down towards the first location we had in mind. As the two strolled over towards us, we couldn’t help but admire Kerrie’s outfit! She was dressed in white cowboy boots, adding a touch of rustic charm to the occasion. Shawn, equally dashing, complemented her with his burgundy button up and black pants! Picture perfect vibes right there!

While we made our way to the first location, we spent some time chatting and getting to know the duo. Throughout the session, our focus was on creating a comfortable atmosphere, encouraging Kerrie and Shawn to immerse themselves in each other’s presence while we captured their genuine emotions. Guided by our passion for storytelling, we aimed to capture not just moments but emotions — the real and raw. In addition to capturing stunning photographs, we crafted an engagement video!
